Sterlingsilver - rock crystal - 16 mm in diameter
This piece of historical jewelry is a copy of a pendant that was found in Gotland, an island outside Stockholm. It is dated from the 13th century. While archeologists are still debating if the pendant was used more than a jewelry or if it belonged to a sorcerer to predict the future or perhaps as a navigation instrument, one thing is for sure. The beauty of it remains and is also a testimony of the era when Gotland was one of the riches trade centers in the Baltic region, where people from distant countries came to the island to do business. The original is in the museum in Visby, Gotland.
